IF - Stitch

Ouch, runners stitch! A little retro gym class flashback... I remember that back in the day, some of the guys on the track team smoked. They would put a cigarette behind their ear, so they could light up right after a race, long-jump, or vaulting event.

Great take on the topic! Wow, I'm surprised their lungs could take that kind of abuse. I love the coach in the golf cart. Super composition! :)

Cool idea for "stitch. Love the despair look on the runners face, the little touches too like the cigarette in the ear, the tiny wisps of hair on the mustache and chin, and the "Property of Hickey High" on the golf card. Very detailed and great stuff David!!!

Fantastic illustration. Great expressions too!

It reminds me of Danny Zuko in Grease running in Converse shoes, tight shorts (pulled up way high), tight white shirt (tucked in), and a cigarette behind his ear - sooo macho! :)

Nothing like a nice relaxing smoke to cap off athletic endevours. Really great exasperated expressions!

Love it! I used to envy the fact that the coach got to ride in a golf cart while we slaved away on the track..

Looks like coach smoked a few stogies back in his day too, judging by the screaming yellow teeth! Love it! Creative take on stitch and nicely done.

That looks like my middle school gym teacher in the background! He had a stub for a right hand and used to call me "Pittsburgh." He could throw one helluva spiral with that stub!
Good stuff, David!

I saw your illo of Shipwreck loving up Scarlett on Fred-Raw Throwback. Love it, meng! You're "A Real (North) American Hero!" Hoping to get my own up there soonish!
